Kill Team - "Operation Hivestorm" Cinematic Trailer Analysis

Finally, the day for the cinematic trailer of the next edition of Kill Team has arrived!

After watching it at least a dozen times, I think I'm ready to do a brief analysis of what we've seen.
Of course, some of these are just speculations in anticipation of the official review scheduled for tomorrow!

TEMPESTUS SCIONS

The basic equipment expected for the Tempestus is definitely the Hot-shot Lasgun, but we managed to catch a glimpse of a few specialists:

  • The leader seems to be equipped with a Hot-shot laspistol and Power Sword (but will probably also have the option to be armed with a Plasma Pistol and Chainsword).
  • There will be an operative armed with two Hot-shot laspistols.
  • We have a sniper with the Hot-shot marksman rifle.
  • The small robot that is part of the team made an appearance, but we still don't know anything about it.
  • The grav-chute in use seems to function similarly to those of the Reivers (Phobos team).

Additionally, something tells me they might have a ploy similar to the Veterans' "In Death, Atonement"...

VESPID

The current basic weapon for the Vespid is the Neutron Blaster, and this is confirmed by the trailer. In the frantic action of the battle between the two teams, you can also recognize:

  • A Vespid armed with a Rail Rifle.
  • A Vespid with what seems to be an unidentified cannon (even our T'au expert couldn't recognize the weapon).
  • Interestingly, there’s a Vespid equipped with a T'au helmet; I wonder if it has any specific function.

SCENERY

Since we're here to do some speculating, why not also focus on the upcoming Killzone Volkus?

The most dedicated scenery enthusiasts might have noticed that in the opening shot, one of the statues from the Sector Imperialis Basilicanum is present (also found in the Kill Team Sector Sanctoris box).
Additionally, the explosion caused by the enormous cannon in the background allows us to get a closer look at the battlefield: the presence of other Sector Imperialis structures already seen in the Chalnath box from Season 1 is unmistakable.

This seems to suggest that the next killzone will have an Imperialis theme.
Many wouldn’t mind this, given that these sceneries have been out of production for a few years now. However, the second part of the trailer shows us a completely different scenario...

The battle shifts to an underground location where we are immersed in what seems to be an imperial Manufactorum. Here too, we can find familiar scenery:

- Barrels and Containers from the Battlezone: Manufactorum.

- Walkways from the Battlezone: Mechanicus.

Will it be Imperialis or Mechanicus?
Or perhaps a mix of the two?
Or could it be something entirely new that we haven't seen before?

We'll just have to wait until tomorrow!
